About this product

Skin Tone Cutout Cards for Color Analysis

This material assists in diagnosing skin undertone and also helps clients choose the ideal foundation shade.

In this material, skin tones are classified according to the Fitzpatrick Scale—the most well-known classification of skin phototypes, created in 1976 by American physician Thomas B. Fitzpatrick. He categorized skin into six phototypes based on each person’s ability to tan, as well as their sensitivity and likelihood of redness when exposed to the sun:

  • Type I – Pale white – Always burns – Never tans

  • Type II – Fair white – Burns easily – Tans minimally

  • Type III – Light brown – Burns moderately – Tans gradually

  • Type IV – Moderate brown – Burns minimally – Always tans

  • Type V – Dark brown – Rarely burns – Always tans

  • Type VI – Deeply pigmented dark brown to black – Never burns – Highly pigmented

There are four undertone variations: warm, cool, neutral, and olive.
